The Best Meditation App (For People With No Time To Meditate)

Everyone and their mother is talking about mediation now-a-days. It’s risen steadily over the past several years, but really taken off towards the end of last year and into this year:

Now we could attribute this to the whole “new year new you” phase. But it’s still head steady so far this year and there are no shortage of competing brands popping up, what feels like, on a monthly or even weekly basis!

Why meditate in the first place?

Isn’t is a waste of time and wouldn’t it be more efficient to just keep working or going on with your life, instead of sitting there doing “thinking” or “doing nothing”.

☝🏻This was my thought. Maybe not quite that bold. But, that’s pretty much what I was thinking.

Me being a very data-centric and someone who thinks through processes a lot before I embark on them thought things like:

How will I know if I’m doing it right? How will if I’m improving in my mediation. More importantly, how will I know what success even looks like?

How Muse Meditation is Different:

The unique thing about the Muse – and why I feel it beats all other mediation apps, is it will gamify mediation instantly.

You see, for most people, who want to know the ROI of what we’re investing our limited time on – and this is why Muse is the best mediation practice for busy people. We want to know if it’s working – instantly!

The Muse headband is paired with a mobile app. After downloading you are taken through a few questions:

From there, you get a feel for the app, and the different mediation types Muse has set for you, ready to go:

Once you actually start the mediation, you will hear the soundscape you have choose. For me, Ambient Music most of the time.

You’ll then hear the noise. And this is the coolest part – it will get louder, or softer, based on your brain waves! (Yes, wearing the headband has a purpose, besides feeling a little dorky). Let’s say you choose the “beach” as your soundscape. If your brain waves aren’t calm, and your mind isn’t stable and is racing, then you’ll hear louder waves crashing. Which is an instant feedback process to know you need to re-center your thoughts.

How it tied back to an ROI in life:

For a long time before Muse came out, I’ve been to Masterminds, talked with fellow Entrepreneurs, Industry influencers, etc who were really doing well and all of them meditated. There was clearly a common thread there and I knew I needed to look into this, but didn’t know what my success metric was going to be if I started. Therefore, why start if you don’t know what success looks like (again, back to my analytical mind…)
